Eddie Izzard To Make A Film Version Of His Canceled TV Series "The Riches"
Thu, 20 Nov 2008

Eddie Izzard won't bury his "Riches" just yet; the comic is planning to make a film version of the canceled FX series.

After two seasons on air, the Emmy Award-nominated series was canceled by the network in April. Izzard said it's time to make an independently produced version of the show.

He told BBC, "We've had the meeting and the writers are going to go off and slam out a story."

"We're going to raise money like Barack Obama through the internet, and we're going to shoot it guerilla-style."

He added, "Everything's getting tight, money's getting tight and there's the credit crunch - so it's the time to go out and be inventive."

"We're going to just get in there and maybe not have permission to do things, but just film it."

"The Riches" told the story about a family of con artists who took the identity of a very wealthy couple, the eponymous Riches, who had been killed in a car accident. Izzard co-stars with Minnie Driver, who played his wife in the series.
