Fox Remakes "The A-Team" In New Film
Thu, 29 Jan 2009
Fox's "The A-Team" has nabbed a director. Joe Carnahan, who helmed "Smokin' Aces," has been assigned the project, with Ridley Scott as the producer and Tony Scott as exec producer. Carnahan and Brian Bloom will polish Skip Woods' script before its intended production start date in June, as per Variety. The plot will use the original premise of the '80s cult TV series "The A-Team," which starred the iconic Mr. T in one of the lead roles. The series features four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery who escaped from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries. In the new film, Vietnam will be replaced by Middle East. Variety quotes Carnahan as saying, "This was a coveted property, and re-imagining a show that I remembered as a kid was tough to turn down. Fox hired me to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up." The film is scheduled for a June 11, 2010 release. The cast line-up hasn't been revealed yet.
