Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival Introduces Comedic Action Flick "The Capers"
Mon, 03 Nov 2008

The film "The Capers" made its debut premiere at the 23rd annual Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival. The film is directed by Julian Kheel, alongside co-writer Brett Haley and producer/actor Michael Cecchi. "The Capers" film stands out as Kheels first feature film.

"We basically had an idea to take 'The Capers' film where three different teams walk at the same place and at the same time. When we decided who the teams were, we decided to have them filmed in their own independent genres and have the genres crash into each other which made the climax of the movie," explains Halsey.

"We did a short film a couple of years ago called 'Exceed' that actually appeared at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival in 2001 that led us to want to change up the style of the film," states Kheel.

"The Capers" takes you on a non-stop action packed ride with the quirky crews known as "Sputniks," "The Moolies," and "The Amateurs." "The Moolies" hilariously emphasize the rap star "bling bling" phenomenon while strategically trying to stay ahead of the game. "The Sputniks" and "The Amateurs" complete the trend by simultaneously devising plans to out do the stereotypical pawn owner, Connie. Connie stands out as a memorable character that is overly exaggerated, while Dino plays the abnormally enthusiastic criminal mind behind "The Amateurs."

"The premise of the film is to encourage individuals to work together and look beyond their differences," explains Cecchi.

Director Julian M. Kheel has directed and written other noted films such as "The Method" and "Exceed."
