Thu, 30 Jul 2009

Gerard Butler is back for another action-filled movie. The "300" star leads the cast in the sci-fi action thriller "Gamer," which is set to be released on September 4 by Lionsgate.

The Scottish actor is playing Kable, a death row prisoner who becomes an unwilling participant of an online death match game. Set in the near future, a new entertainment and gaming concept has been developed, wherein death row prisoners are used as avatars by other humans to fight other participants.

"Dexter" star Michael C. Hall plays the game's creator Ken Castle, whom Kable must defeat to escape the system that has imprisoned him.

"Gamer" boasts an ensemble cast, including "Heroes" actor Milo Ventimiglia, Ludacris, Terry Crews, John Leguizamo, Efren Ramirez, Amber Valletta, and Kyra Sedgwick.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor co-directed and co-written the film.
