Jane Lynch Talks New Movies And Receives Career Achievement Award At Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
Fri, 07 Nov 2008
Anthony Jones - Celebrity News Service Contributor Ft. Lauderdale, FL (CNS) -- Jane Lynch, the comedic star who can be seen in this week's "Role Models," is the recipient of the Career Achievement Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival this weekend. Lynch stars in "I Do, I Don't" a new screwball comedy from director Steve Blair in which she plays one-half of a dysfunctional couple who offers church-sanctioned pre-marital counseling. She co-stars with Alexie Gilmore (recipient of the festival's Rising Star Award), comedic actor Bryan Callen and Matt Servitto ("The Sopranos"). "This film was a labor of love," Lynch said. "We're pre-marital counselors for the Catholic church and we're supposedly an outstanding couple but we were out of our minds. I'm a terrible drunk, I come on to Bryan and Matt is naked far too much." But Lynch promises she, for the most part, kept her clothes on on-screen. "You don't get frontal. I got frontal but you don't," she joked. Lynch started to garner attention for her hilarious, mostly improvisational turns in the Christopher Guest movies "Best In Show," "A Mighty Wind" and "For Your Consideration". Known for her off-script flair, she along with the co-stars brought some of that unrehearsed, off-the-wall energy to "I Do, I Don't". "Steve Blair is a terrific writer and he writes great dialogue so we had a lot of fun doing what was on the page," she said. "But of course we always had to do something ridiculous and silly that really pushed the envelope." Lynch has completed no less than 9 films this year alone, along with countless other television appearances, making her not only the funniest but one of the hardest-working women currently in show business. "I do love to work. I rarely say no but I'm also very lucky that I get offered some terrific things." This week, her new comedy "Role Models" hits theaters in which she co-stars with her "40-Year-Old Virgin" co-star Paul Rudd. "It's really good. I'm so proud of Paul. He's the emotional engine of this movie and he's hilarious and he also co-wrote it. Seann William Scott is hilarious in it too," she gushed. She'll next star in "The Post-Grad Survival Guide" opposite Michael Keaton and Alexis Bledel, as well as "Julie & Julia" with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. "I Do, I Don't" premieres at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival this weekend.
