Liam Neeson In Talks To Star In "The A-Team" Film
Tue, 09 Jun 2009
Liam Neeson is in talks to star in the 20th Century Fox's big screen adaptation of the '80s TV series "The A-Team." The studio is thinking of casting the 57-year-old actor as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, the role originally played by George Peppard. Also in negotiation is "The Hangover" star Bradley Cooper, who is being lined up for the role of Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck, played by Dirk Benedict in the show. According to Variety, the film will keep the series' premise: four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from a military prison to become do-gooder mercenaries. However, the tone will be closer to those of "Mission: Impossible" and "Ocean's Eleven" rather than the original campy nature of the series. Rapper Common has been long rumored to star as Sgt. B.A. "Bad Attitude" Baracus, the role made famous by Mr. T, although his involvement has not been confirmed yet. Ridley Scott and Jules Daly are producing with show creator Stephen J. Cannell. Tony Scott is exec producing through Scott Free. Production will start late August for a June 11, 2010 release date.
