Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz have teamed up in the upcoming Paramount Pictures tearjerker "The Lovely Bones," the film adaptation of the 2002 novel of the same name by Alice Sebold.

They are joined by Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan as the 14-year-old Susie Salmon who is raped and murdered by a neighbor.

The novel follows Susie as she finds herself in her personalized heaven after death. She observes her family as they grieve for her, and waits for justice to be served while watching her killer as he prepares to murder again.

Weisz and Wahlberg play Susie's parents, while Tucci plays George Harvey, the rapist and murderer.

Peter Jackson produced, directed, and co-wrote the screenplay. The film will be released on December 11.
