MGLFF Presents Two Simultaneous Advance Screenings Of "Milk" In South Florida
Wed, 19 Nov 2008
The first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California is coming to Miami. The late Harvey Milk's life in film will be screening at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival next week. "Milk," starring Academy Award winner Sean Penn in the title role, will have two exclusive screenings in South Florida in advance of its opening day. On Tuesday, November 25, at 7:30 p.m., the film will simultaneously be shown in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. And to celebrate the event, a special After-Party in conjunction with Edison Farrow's Martini will be held at the Gansevoort Hotel on South Beach. Ticket holders can also enjoy a complimentary glass of wine at the party. The film tells the extraordinary story of Harvey Bernard Milk, the first openly gay man elected into a major public office in the country. He became a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977 and was killed in November 1978. Gus Van Sant directs the film.
