New Family Friendly Fantasy Adventure Movie "Delgo" Opens In Theaters December 12
Tue, 02 Dec 2008
If a fantasy world that includes a forgotten enemy, a forbidden romance and a fantastic adventure sounds like your kind of movie, then get ready for "Delgo." Set in a fantasy world like viewers have never seen before, "Delgo" opens in theaters everywhere December 12. Celebrity News Service spoke with Marc Adler, the producer, director and writer of the movie, about the "new look" of the film. "We wanted to tell a timeless story about cultural acceptance and we did it in a magical world," Adler said. "It is an entirely new world with two societies, the land bound race and the aerial race." The movie, rated PG and from Fathom Studios, won "Best Animated Feature Film" at the Anima Mundi Film Festival, a fact that Adler is proud of. "Our goal with the film is to have the audience enjoy the film in an entertainment way and take away the message of unity among all people," Adler told Celebrity News Service, adding that the film has scored incredibly high in Nielsen reports on its family friendly level. The movie features an all-star cast of voices, including Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ann Bancroft, Chris Kattan, Val Kilmer, Lou Gossett, Jr., Eric Idle, Burt Reynolds, Kelly Ripa, Sally Kellerman, Michael Clarke Duncan and Malcolm McDowell. In the movie, the land of Jhamora is torn apart by the mutual prejudice of two peoples -the winged Nohrin, masters of the skies, and the terrestrial Lockni, who harness the mystical powers of the land. When Delgo (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), a reckless Lockni teenager, forms an outlawed friendship with the spunky Nohrin Princess Kyla (Jennifer Love Hewitt), hostilities between the two peoples escalate, setting the stage for an exiled Empress Sedessa (Ann Bancroft) to exact her revenge and reclaim her rule. Falsely imprisoned, Delgo and his faint-hearted best friend, Filo (Chris Kattan), must put aside their differences to join forces with a sworn enemy (Val Kilmer) and travel to the mysterious land of Perran, where they discover more than just a scorned Empress and her two bumbling servants. "The question the movie answers is, 'What can one person do to unify two races?'" Adler said, adding that the question is answered by the hero Delgo. Celebrity News Service will be on hand for the opening of the film, to see how Delgo handles his enemy and his forbidden romance in what sounds like a classic true adventure. "You can't take your eyes off this movie," said Ripa, who voices the character Kurrin. "Delgo" opens nationwide December 12, but for a sneak peek now visit www.delgo.com.
