New Survey Shows Montreal World Film Festival Generates Million Into The Local Economy
Mon, 17 Nov 2008

Tourists at the Montreal World Film Festival generate million into the local economy, a new survey suggests.

According to the poll done by Leger Marketing, the festival produces a strong tourist draw, with approximately 385,000 attending the 2008 event at least once. During their stay in the greater Montreal area, the festival's visitors spend an average of 1.60. Visitors from outside Quebec spend twice as much as the visitors from the province.

Festival director Daniele Cauchard stated, "In addition to the considerable tourist benefits generated by the Montreal World Film Festival, as measured by Leger Marketing, there are other economic and advertising benefits."

"Economically, there are significant benefits for the local film milieu. Because of its large number of world and international premieres, the Festival produces substantial publicity for Montreal as a whole."

The Montreal World Film Festival took place from August 21 to September 1, 2008.
