Nicole Kidman Repels Women Moviegoers For "Australia"
Tue, 25 Nov 2008

Nicole Kidman's upcoming period epic film "Australia" may have Hugh Jackman and romance in it, but women are still not going to watch. Some women think Kidman's presence in the film is the repelling factor.

As per Times Online, women found the Academy Award and three-time Golden Globe Award-winning actress' acting bland and starring her in the big-budgeted film is "a kiss of death" to the project.

This may not be good news to the film, as it expects to draw a mostly female audience when it opens on November 26.

Meanwhile, Baz Lurhmann, who directed, produced and wrote the film, also composed its final theme. He teamed up with Elton John for the lyrics and the music of the song.

Luhrmann told Time Out, "Elton called me and said he just wanted to help."

"So when he offered to help on 'Australia,' I told him: 'Elton, I've got this great composing team but there's a ballad I want to do, a traditional storytelling piece perfect for you.'"

John performed the song "The Drover's Ballad" for the film.
