Rob Zombie and Bob Weinstein Team Up Again for "Halloween" Sequel
Wed, 24 Dec 2008
It seems that people are suckers for Halloween movies around Halloween. And that includes the never-ending "Halloween" remakes and sequels, which Dimension Films is gearing up to make more of. The production company announced it will make "H2," a sequel to the Rob Zombie-directed remake of the classic movie "Halloween." Zombie will write and direct the sequel, and Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, will help produce the film, along with Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films and Andy Gould of Spectacle Entertainment Group. Zombie's original "Halloween" movie grossed about million at the box office in 2007. During its opening weekend release, which was Labor Day weekend, it grossed a record-breaking .6 million. "H2" will pick up at Halloween's ending to follow the aftermath of Michael Myers' killing spree. "Following the success of 2007's 'Halloween,' we are thrilled to be back in business with Rob Zombie, bringing a sequel to theaters," Weinstein told ComingSoon.net. "The fans have made it clear - and we agree - that they feel the franchise is in great hands with Rob Zombie." Zombie has had other successes - his 2003 film "House of 1000 Corpses" started his horror movie success career, and wrote and directed its 2005 sequel, "The Devil's Rejects." Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, has appeared in all of his films. She played Deborah Myers, Michael Myers' mother, in "Halloween." There is no word yet on whether or not she will need to reprise her role in "H2," or if she'll appear in the film as another character.
