Despite appearing in a cameo on the "Iron Man" film as Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson still isn't sure he has secured the role yet.

Viewers are expecting to see more of the actor playing the fictional super spy in the future Marvel superhero films after his unexpected participation in the 2008 pic. Jackson even gave his consent to be the model for the Ultimate Marvel version of Fury.

But now, the 60-year-old star is saying that he is still not sure about reprising the role or if the role is even in the upcoming films.

He told L.A. Times, "There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it."

"There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], 'We're not making that deal.'"

Marvel replied by saying they don't comment on "active negotiations."
