"Blade" star Stephen Dorff has signed on to play a porn star in a Sony Pictures new comedy from Adam Sandler. "Born to Be a Star" will also star Christina Ricci.

The story - co-written by Sandler, Allen Covert and Nick Swardson - will focus on a small-town Midwestern nerd (Swardson) who discovers his parents were famous porn stars.

Dorff will play Dick Shadow, a legendary porn star, while Ricci will play his girlfriend.

Sandler will produce with Jack Giarraputo. Production kicks off next week.

Swardson's film credits include several appearance in Sandler's movies, including "Bedtime Stories" and "I Know Pronounce You Chuck and Larry." Dorf will next be seen in the crime drama "Black Water Transit" alongside Laurence Fishburne and Karl Urban and in "Public Enemies" starring Johnny Depp.
