Summit Entertainment Reportedly Refuses To Rehire "Twilight" Actor For Sequel
Fri, 12 Dec 2008

"Twilight" actor Taylor Lautner may not be reprising his role in the film's sequel because Summit Entertainment won't rehire him, reports say.

Lautner plays the role of human Jacob Black in the smash vampire romance film. In the sequel, "New Moon," he will undergo a transformation that would enable him to phase into a wolf.

According to Entertainment Weekly's sources, he might not look the part of a maturing werewolf because the 16-year-old actor looks too "young-looking and slight of frame."

Summit Entertainment has yet to give out statement regarding the report.

One sure member of the first film that's not coming back is director Catherine Hardwicke. It was announced that she will not be doing the sequel, citing production time disputes.

"The Golden Compass" helmer Chris Weitz has reportedly been approached to direct the sequel.

"New Moon" is slated for a November 2009 release.
