Taylor Lautner Might Keep Role In "New Moon"
Wed, 07 Jan 2009

Taylor Lautner might keep his role in the "Twilight" sequel, after all. Despite lacking the physical traits of the novel character, the actor might still reprise his Jacob Black role in "New Moon."

Summit Entertainment is expected to announce their decision for "New Moon" this week. Lead actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are more or less assured of reprising their roles as Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in the film. However, things are not as certain for Lautner, who played Jacob Black in the first movie, which is based on the novel by Stephanie Meyer.

In the sequel, Jacob will be seen into a hulking, seven-foot Lycan, which might mean casting another actor for the role as 16-year-old Lautner looks young for the role.

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg said that the difference between Jacob and Lautner is apparent, saying, "He's a foot taller and huge - and he's supposed to look 25. It's really a question of whether or not the same actor can play the role."

She still remains positive, however, adding that "everyone would love to keep him. We all think he's the loveliest person ever."
