Tue, 02 Sep 2008

Hollywood's King of Voiceovers Don LaFontaine has died of complications from Pneumothorax, the presence of air or gas in the pleural cavity, on Monday. He was 68.

LaFontaine was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last week, citing blood clot in his lungs.

The unseen star of the industry may have the most recognizable voice in the industry, providing voice-overs for over 5,000 movie trailers, and 350,000 TV commercials, network promos, and video game trailers.

Few of his most recognizable catchphrases include "In a world...," "A one-man army," and "No where to run, no where to hide and no way out."

He was survived by his wife, singer/actress Nita Whitaker, and their three children.
