Wed, 28 Jan 2009

"Tomb Raider" is heading to the big screen again. Warner Bros. and producer Dan Lin are in the early development stage to reboot the popular video game in theaters.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film studio has grabbed the rights to the franchise from Paramount and it will develop its new series. The new film will ignore the previous ones made, which starred Angelina Jolie as the adventurous Lara Croft, and will re-imagine the title character's origins.

It was recently reported that "Transformers" star Megan Fox is to replace Jolie in the starring role, but no confirmed names have been announced yet.

"Tomb Raider" was published in 1996 by U.K. game company Eidos. It developed several spin-off games since then, with a 10th-anniversary edition released in 2006.

It also developed two films: first is "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" in 2001 and "Lara Croft Tom Raider: The Cradle of Life" in 2003. Jolie starred in both.
