Warner Recruits Supervillains In "Suicide Squad"
Thu, 26 Feb 2009

Warner Bros. is trying a new spin on superhero flicks and is now taking a chance and set supervillains in the lead roles for its next film project. DC Comics' "Suicide Squad" will be produced by Dan Lin.

The first squad debuted in 1959 DC Comic "The Brave and the Bold," and a series was launched in 1987, Variety reports.

Lin Pictures' Stephen Gilchrist will co-produce, while "Street Fighter" scribe Justin Marks is writing the screenplay.

The story will see a mix of famous and not-so-famous villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed to be too dangerous for the superheroes.

The villains to be featured are yet to be determined, though Deadshot and Poison Ivy have been involved with the squad's multiple missions in the past.
