The Happening is opening. It's just not that happening. Not really.

M. Night Shyamalan's uneven post-9/11 disaster epic is about a mass suicide epidemic. This is the first R-rated film (and, it must be said, unnecessarily so at that) for the writer-producer-director, who may be feeling about now that three Hollywood hats can get heavy indeed.
