Angelina Jolie is happy that her adopted daughter Zahara, who is 4, now has a positive role model. Jolie has reportedly spoken out about how she is happy that Disney's first black princess in "The Princess and the Frog" is a positive influence on her Ethiopian daughter.

The animated feature is currently ruling the box office and is set in Jazz-Age era New Orleans. The tale centers around a beautiful princess named Tiana and a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again. A kiss leads the two on a fantastic adventure through the swamps of Louisiana.

According to OK! magazine: "Angelina Jolie has spoken about how she's ecstatic that her four-year-old daughter Zahara will have a role model thanks to the barrier being broken."

Tiana is voiced by actress Anika Noni Rose. Rose told Valerie Nome of Ok! magazine, "It's wonderful. I think every little girl should be able to feel themselves the princess. I think every little girl is worthy of having a princely young man, and vice versa."

Indo-Americans want a new category in the Golden Globes that exclusively showcase Bollywood films. Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed urges the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to consider adding a Best Bollywood Film category starting 2011.

Zed, the chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, said that India has the largest film industry in the world and thus it deserved at least one category in Golden Globes where its films could compete among themselves.

He said that the gesture would bring more credibility to the awards show as well as in the international arena as it was long overdue.

Indian films, which are based in Mumbai and various regional centers, reportedly produce much more titles and draw larger audience globally than Hollywood.

The American Film Institute (AFI) announced on Monday the official selections for the AFI Awards 2009. The awards record the year's most outstanding achievements in film and television, along with significant moments in the world of the moving image.

The AFI Awards 2009 are selected by a 13-person jury that includes scholars, film artists, critics and AFI trustees that come together to discuss, debate and determine who will be chosen. There are two juries, one for motion picture and one for television.

The creative ensembles for each of the selections made by the AFI will be honored at a private luncheon on Friday, January 15 of 2010 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

It's the time of the year again when lists of the worst and best of everything are made. 2009 is no exception. Times Online has collected 100 titles that its critics say you should avoid renting at your local DVD store.

While some of the titles are never-heard, there's doubt as to the inclusion of some of the films.

Kate Winslet's Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning film "The Reader" failed to impress one critic, who said the film "simply fails to come alive dramatically."

Her other critically-acclaimed work, "Revolutionary Road," where she co-starred with "Titanic" pal Leonardo DiCaprio, also felt bland to one reviewer, classifying it as a "disappointing downer of a film."

Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, and Matt Damon are double nominees for the Golden Globes. The stars scored two nominations each for their acting chops in the upcoming 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards in January.

Bullock is nominated for Best Actress Drama and Best Actress Comedy for her roles in "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal."

Streep, meanwhile, scores two nods in the Best Actress Comedy category for her roles in "It's Complicated" and "Julie & Julia."

Damon will be competing against Robert Downey Jr., Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Michael Stuhlbarg in the Best Actor Comedy category for his role in "The Informant!" while he vies for the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his role in "Invictus" against Woody Harrelson, Christopher Plummer, Stanley Tucci, and Christoph Waltz.

Celine Dion hit five continents and 23 countries for her "Taking Chances World Tour," and now she's offering fans a glimpse that no backstage pass can offer. In the new movie, "Celine: Through the Eyes of the World," she gives cameras full access at her, her family, and behind-the-scenes of her sold out global tour.

The film intercuts concert performances of Celine perform her biggest hits with footage of the star traveling through different cities with her husband, her 8-year-old son, and mother, including moving family moments and also those that show the demands of putting on her extensive worldwide tour.

Just in time for the craziness surrounding the holiday shopping season, "Confessions Of A Shopaholic" will make it premiere on Starz on Saturday, December 12. The comedy stars Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy, Joan Cusack and John Goodman.

Fisher stars as Rebecca Bloowood, a shopaholic journalist who lives in Manhattan with her best friend. Bloomwood has a wardrobe that any fashionista would covet and the credit card debt to match. She longs for a job working at a fashion magazine, but instead ends up with a job at a financial magazine dishing out advice on saving. Bloomwood deals with a hounding debt collector and some heavy competition for the affection of her charming boss (Dancy).

The movie is a film adaptation of a series of novels, "Shopaholic," by Sophie Kinsella. The film was directed by P.J. Hogan and was released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 23 of 2009.

Toronto will be hosting the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in 2011. The four-day event will be held on June 16 through June 19 and will draw over 500 leading names from India's film industry as they come together to recognize, honor and celebrate the achievements of the country's film industry.

The events will include the IIFA Awards gala, the World Film Premiere and Film Festival, the Global Business Forum, film workshops, a charity fashion show and post show party.

Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed has welcomed the city's move to host the Awards. In a statement, he said it "was time now for American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize India's contribution to world cinema and introduce a new award category of 'Best Bollywood Film' in Oscars for films made in India. This gesture would bring more credibility to Oscars also in the international arena, as it was long overdue."

The annual awards events began in London in 2000 and have continued to be held in South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and People's Republic of China.

Drew Barrymore's directorial debut "Whip It" is going to jam its way to Blu-ray and DVD on January 26th. The comedy, which stars Ellen Page, Marcia Gay Harden, "SNL" star Kristen Wiig, and Barrymore, was a hit with critics.

Page stars as Bliss, a teen who wants to break out of her small-town, beauty pageant roots and finds herself joining a roller derby team in nearby Austin. Bliss ends up having to win over her family and friends with her newfound love, while hiding her new bruises.

"Whip It" will include deleted and extended scenes, an alternate opening, and "Writers Draft with Shauna Cross," who wrote the screenplay. The Blu-ray version also includes a Digital Copy.

"Whip It" grossed million at the box-office when it opened in October.

"Bruno" is being sued again. Sacha Baron Cohen has been hit with 3 million libel lawsuit by a Palestinian peace activist over the 2009 mockumentary.

Ayman Abu Aita, a firm opponent of terrorists, claims the depiction of him in the film ruined his life.

In the film, Baron Cohen's Austrian gay title character travels to the Ein El-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon to meet a leader of the Al-Aqsa Brigades. Abu Aita was described as a "Terrorist group leader, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade" on the caption.

He claims he has been tricked into meeting the comedian in the first place. He first thought Baron Cohen was a German producing a film about Palestinians, according to the Daily Mail.

"Up In The Air" has been awarded as Best Film by the Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA). WAFCA honored George Clooney, Carey Mulligan, Christoph Waltz and Mo'Nique for various awards.

Clooney was named as Best Actor, along with Mulligan for Best Actress for her role in "An Education." The Best Supporting Actor went to Waltz for "Inglourious Basterds" and Mo'Nique was honored as Best Supporting Actress for "Precious."

"Precious" also won the award for Best Breakthrough Performance for first-time actress Gabourey Sidibe. Director Kathryn Bigelow has been named as WAFCA's First Female Best Director winner for the Iraq War film, "The Hurt Locker."

"We are thrilled with these results," said Tim Gordon, president of WAFCA. "As with every year, there were consensus favorites as well as surprises that both stunned and delighted us. In a year full of as many great films as this one, things are always...up in the air!"

In the days leading up to the upcoming Academy Awards, Turner Classic Movies will be playing a long round of Oscar-nominated and winning films.

The vintage movie network will air its perennial special "31 Days of Oscar" starting February 1. Paying tribute to films that feature the best that the cinematic medium has to offer, the month-long programming block has a special theme for 2010.

This year's "31 Days" is styled after the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," which links actors movie by movie to the titular star. However, rather than six degrees, TCM will utilize a full circle with 360 degrees - 360 movies. Starting with Bacon himself, "31 Days" kicks off at 6 a.m. ET with the actor's "Only When I Laugh." The progression continues in a like format with Bacon's co-star, James Coco, in "Man of La Mancha." Coco's co-star, Harry Andrews, is then featured in "55 Days at Peking," and the sequence continues on until reaching the final film, "Diner," on March 3, completing the circle by coming back to Bacon.

Among the movies scheduled for "31 Days" are 22 films that are being broadcast on TCM for the first time: "Gladiator," "Titanic," "Mrs. Brown," "A Room with a View," "Trading Places," "Frances," "Only When I Laugh," "Alien," "Julia," "Serpico," "Lady Sings the Blues," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "An American Dream," "Morituri," "Summertime," "Call Me Madam," "The Snake Pit," "Moonrise," "Kiss of Death," "Kitty," "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "One Hour with You."

Fans of "Zombieland" are sure to devour copies of the hit horror comedy when it heads to Blu-ray and DVD on February 2nd. Grossing over million at the U.S. box office, "Zombieland" was not only a sleeper hit but one of the best reviewed movies of the year.

Starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, "Zombieland" tells the story of a group of survivors who band together to slay zombies when a plague has turned most of the world into flesh-eating monsters. A sequel is reportedly already in the works, which is set to be shot in 3-D.

Fans will eat-up the special features on the release, which includes a commentary with Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, director Ruben Fleischer, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The Miami Jewish Film Festival will be kicking off on January 16 and the festival is sure to have something for everyone. This year's lineup will feature movies ranging from side-splitting comedies to serious dramas.

The 10-day event will open with "A Matter of Size," a comedy that follows an overweight Israeli chef who works in a Japanese restaurant and seeks happiness as a Sumo wrestler.

Other films featured in the festival include romances and true-life adaptations. Stars such as Catherine Deneuve, Lainie Kazan, Gérard Depardieu, Eli Wallach, Patrick Swazye and Carmen Electra will be featured in the various movies.

The festival, which was picked as the Best Film Festival in Miami in 2009 by New Times, will run from January 16 until January 24. Innovation and nostalgia ombine in a new film that came together in a place of Hollywood legend.

"Across the Hall," a new independent film starring Brittany Murphy, Mike Vogel and Danny Pino, opened on December 4 in Los Angeles and New York theaters. Available at L.A.'s Beverly Hills Laemmle Music Hall and New York's City Cinemas and Village East Cinema, the movie is the directorial debut of writer/director Alex Merkin.

In a press release for the film, Merkin said he intended his work - shot on 35mm film and produced on a modest budget over 17 days - to be "a deeply visceral cinematic experience."

"For my first film I wanted to tell the type of story I grew up loving: ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances, surrounded by a dense, textured world - one that lives and breathes on its own," he said.

George Clooney's latest offering "Up in the Air" has been named Best Film by the National Board of Review. The actor also won Best Actor with Morgan Freeman, who plays Nelson Mandela in "Invictus."

"Up in the Air," based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Walter Kim, follows a corporate downsizer as he meets people along the way.

It also won Best Supporting Actress for Anna Kendrick and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Other winners include Carey Mulligan for Best Actress ("An Education"), Woody Harrelson for Best Supporting Actor ("The Messenger"), and "Up" for Best Animated Feature.

Women are highly anticipating the next "Sex and the City" sequel, but producer and star Sarah Jessica Parker isn't so sure she made the right decision in signing up for the film.

The 44-year-old actress - who has three children with husband Matthew Broderick - reveals she has "enormous regrets" about agreeing to star in another "SATC" film because it is putting strain on her family.

She told U.K.'s Daily Mail that the shooting schedule of the HBO film is cutting her time with new 4-month-old twin daughters Tabitha and Marion.

She said, "Nothing can really describe what it's like to have two new little girls. It's been very different than when James arrived, since our family expanded in an untraditional way. We didn't plan on having two, but were doubly blessed, and it's been just wonderful."

The romantic comedy "Love Happens" starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on February 2 of 2010, just in time for Valentine's Day.

The movie tells the story of a self-help author Dr. Burke Ryan (Eckhart) who arrives in Seattle to teach a sold-out seminar. But the therapist who asks his patients to openly confront their pain is secretly unable to take his own advice. Eloise Chandler (Aniston) has sworn off men and decided to focus on her floral business. However, when she meets Burke at the hotel where he's speaking, the two are instantly attracted. But will two people who have met the right person at exactly the wrong time be able to give love another chance?

The Blu-ray and DVD will offer several additional features. Commentaries with director and co-writer Brandon Camp, producer and co-writer Mike Thompson and executive producer Rick Solomon are included. The feature "Giving Romance A New Look" will let viewers get a chance to see how visual effects were used to set the scenes for the film.

The cast also includes Dan Fogler, Judy Greer, Joe Anderson, John Carroll Lynch and Martin Sheet.

In the new year, Michael Myers returns to finish what he started with the Blu-ray and DVD release of "Halloween II," the latest entry in the "Halloween" canon from writer/director Rob Zombie. Hitting shelves on January 12th, the blood-soaked sequel will be released on both formats as an unrated director's cut.

The disc will also include an audio commentary with writer/director Zombie, deleted and alternate scenes, bloopers, audition footage, Uncle Seymour Coffins' stand-up routines, Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures music videos, and more.

The Blu-ray will feature the film presented in 1080p AVC with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Also exclusive to the Blu-ray release i the movieIQ feature and BD-Live.

"The Limits of Control" is currently available on DVD.

The Focus Features-made movie, released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, is the latest from art house director Jim Jarmusch.

The story focuses on the mystifying exploits of the Lone Man (Isaach De Bankolé), a lawless renegade whose unusual mission becomes more and more chilling as his tale unfolds. The only thing that matches the strangeness of his tale is the variety of people with whom he comes into contact. Set in Spain and filmed in locations such as Madrid and Andalucía, the movie also stars John Hurt, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Gael García Bernal.

The special features for the movie include the two-part featurette "Behind Jim Jarmusch" and "Untitled Landscapes."
